The laughing kookaburra is the largest species of kingfisher. It is native to eastern Australia but has been introduced to other areas in Australia. Its name comes from the bird’s distinct call which sounds like a laughing chorus. While the call can be heard throughout the day, it is more common during dawn and dusk.
