Italy is a country in Southern Europe located in the Mediterranean Sea. It has historically been home to many different cultures, the most famous period came when the city of Rome ruled most of Europe as an empire millennia ago.
Italian is the main language spoken here and about 75% of people are Roman Catholic with Vatican City residing within the city of Rome as an independent city-state.
Today Italy is famous for its Roman ruins, cuisine, fashion, sports cars and motorcycles. Its landscapes contain a stunning coastline and mountain ranges which form part of the the Alps.
