View of The Virgin of Quito which sits atop El Panecillo, a prominent hill that offers panoramic views of the city. Visitors can reach the top of El Panecillo by climbing a series of stairs which is a dangerous part of the city. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or tour bus to the top of the hill which is much safer. At the top, you can see Quito’s historic center, surrounding valleys, and the numerous mountains and volcanoes that surround the city. The Virgin of Quito is a significant cultural and religious symbol for the people of Ecuador.
