Hillside Beech Forest

A beech forest sits atop a spur descending towards a creek within the lowland broadleaf forest below. Broadleaf forest tends to dominate the lower, more sheltered and shaded slopes, while beech becomes increasingly common higher up, where the terrain is more exposed and receives more sunlight.
