The Plaza de Bolívar, also known as Bolívar Square, is a public square located in the historic center of Bogotá, Colombia. It is the largest and most important square in the city and is named after Simon Bolívar, a leader in the independence movement of several South American countries including Colombia. The square is surrounded by important historical buildings such as the Cathedral of Bogotá, the Palacio de Nariño, and the Palacio de Justicia. The square is also home to several statues, including one of Simon Bolívar and one of Francisco de Paula Santander, another leader in the independence movement. The square is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and is often used for public events and protests.
