Situated amid mountains and temperate rainforest in the southwest of the South Island, Fiordland National Park, the Milford Track is one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. The hike spans over 53.5 km (33.2 mi) and commences at Glade Wharf, accessible solely by water taxi, located at the head of Lake Te Anau. It culminates at Sandfly Point in Milford Sound, taking trekkers through rainforests, wetlands, and an alpine pass. Known as “the finest walk in the world,” it provides unparalleled vistas of the remote regions of Fiordland National Park.
