Christchurch CBD Aerial View 2015

Christchurch the second biggest city in New Zealand was devastated by earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. A deadly aftershock in February 2011 resulted in 185 people losing their lives. Many buildings in the CBD also collapsed, while others needed to come down due to being considered beyond repair. Nearly five years on with most of the rubble cleared up, this video shows how the rebuild is coming along. 2016 is the year that Christchurch is expected to exceed 50 percent of the reconstruction of the city. The total rebuild is estimated at $40 to $45 billion.
