Taitā is a residential suburb in Lower Hutt situated near the eastern bank of the Hutt River, known for its mix of state housing, community facilities, and access to parks and river trails. It developed significantly in the mid twentieth century as part of wider efforts to provide affordable housing for working families, and today it features schools, churches, sports grounds, and the Walter Nash Centre which serves as a modern hub for recreation, libraries, and community services.
