View of Auckland in the year 1998. In view is Westhaven, the largest yacht marina in the Southern Hemisphere. This marina is a reflection of the fact that Auckland has more yachts per capita than any other world city. While the city is the biggest in area and population in New Zealand, it’s squeezed into a narrow isthmus spanning two big harbors. All this has made Auckland ‘The City of Sails’. Consequently, many prestigious yachting competitions have been held here including the Americas Cup on more than one occasion.
