About
View our photos of Upper Hutt, a city in the North Island of New Zealand.
Upper Hutt is one of four cities that constitute the greater Wellington metropolitan area. The city lies at the foothills of the Remutaka mountain range.
Being the smaller of the four cities, it is located sufficiently away from a coastline and consequently has more extreme temperatures with colder winters and warmer summers on average.
The city’s surrounds are more famous for mountains, rivers, and forest walks instead of beaches like the other cities. Natural attractions include the Hutt River, Kaitoke Reserve, Remutaka Forest Park, and Tararua Forest Park.
