Mana Island is a small island situated at the entrance of Porirua Harbour in the southern part of the North Island. The island is a scientific reserve and a bird sanctuary, home to a variety of rare and endangered bird species, including the little blue penguin, the North Island saddleback, and the North Island robin. Mana Island is accessible only by boat, and there are several tour companies that offer guided tours of the island, including bird watching, hiking, and snorkeling.
