About

Situated in the northeast corner of Africa, with borders shared with Israel and Palestine in southwest Asia, is Egypt, officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt.

With a history dating back to the 6th millennia BCE, Egypt boasts a fascinating past as a civilization and empire. The country is home to numerous remarkable archaeological sites and landmarks, including the world-renowned Giza Plateau featuring Khufu (Great Pyramid of Giza), Khafre, Menkaure, and the Sphinx. The New Kingdom era saw the excavation of rock-cut tombs for pharaohs and nobles in The Valley of the Kings, another prominent location.

The Nile River, the longest in the world, flows through the country and forms a lush delta, while the Sahara Desert also occupies a part of Egypt’s territory. The Red Sea offers some of the best diving spots on the planet, boasting rich sea life and corals. Additionally, hiking up Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments, can be a unique experience.

Cairo, the country’s capital, sits on the Nile River adjacent to the Giza Plateau and is one of the world’s largest cities.
