Seas and oceans are large bodies of saltwater that cover the majority of the Earth’s surface. The main difference between seas and oceans is size: seas are partially enclosed by land and are typically smaller and shallower than oceans. Oceans, on the other hand, are vast bodies of water that cover the majority of the Earth’s surface and have a more uniform depth and salinity.
Seas and oceans play a critical role in regulating the Earth’s climate and supporting a diverse array of marine ecosystems, including coral reefs, kelp forests, and mangrove swamps. They also provide important resources, such as food from fishing and aquaculture, and serve as transportation routes for trade and commerce.
Despite the many benefits that seas and oceans provide, they are also threatened by human activities such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change. Climate change, in particular, is causing sea levels to rise and ocean temperatures to warm, affecting weather patterns and altering the distribution and abundance of marine species.
