The Primate Cathedral of Bogotá, also known as the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción, is one of the oldest and most important churches in Colombia. It is located in the heart of Bogotá’s historic district, La Candelaria, and has been designated as a National Monument of Colombia.
The cathedral’s construction began in 1807 and was completed in 1823. It was designed by Spanish architect Domingo de Petrés, who combined neoclassical and baroque styles in the building’s design. The cathedral’s façade features four columns topped with statues of the Four Evangelists, and its interior is decorated with ornate altars, frescoes, and a large central dome.
