A Tui feeding from native New Zealand flax. Tui are endemic to New Zealand and are one of the world’s most intelligent birds. They are very playful and have been known to drop out of the sky and start flying again before hitting the ground. Tui have one of the most beautiful songs of all New Zealand birds. Often their song has silent gaps while they still appear to have their beak open and throat vibrating. These silent gaps are actually high notes that are beyond human hearing.
