Cannon Point Walkway takes you to Birchville Dam. It’s a popular intermediate-level trail in the Akatarawa Forest. Starting from Tulsa Park, the trail winds uphill through private land and the forest, providing stunning views of the Hutt Valley from the summit. Continuing along old forestry paths, the trail descends to Birchville Dam, built in 1929 to supply water to Upper Hutt until 1954. After exploring the dam, walk downstream for 1 kilometer, crossing a suspension bridge to finish the trail.
