Jumping off a cliff wall at Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory, circa 1988. While there are crocodiles in the river below, they are freshwater crocodiles which do not pose a significant threat to humans. They primarily feed on small prey such as fish, crustaceans, insects, and occasionally small mammals or birds. They have a narrower snout and smaller teeth compared to saltwater crocodiles, which are better adapted for capturing larger prey. However, it’s important to remember that even though freshwater crocodiles are generally less dangerous, they are still wild animals and should be treated with caution and respect.
