Docklands Victoria (also known as Melbourne Docklands), represents an ongoing expansion of Melbourne’s central business district (CBD). Boasting several prominent attractions, these include the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, Docklands Sunday Market, Fox Classic Car Collection, Lego Education Centre, Docklands Park, Monument Park at NewQuay, Etihad Stadium, and Victoria Harbour.
The area was once a swampland and a salt lake, but it underwent development to function as a dock with wharves and railways for efficient cargo handling from ships. By the 1990s, it had fallen into disuse and then became a hub for an underground dance scene. Today, Docklands stands as one of Australia’s most significant urban renewal projects, drawing attention as a coveted retail destination for prominent brands and businesses.
