Ancient Antarctic Beech trees in Springbrook National Park. These trees grow in wet areas at high altitude where the climate is cooler and the threat of bush fires is non-existent. Due to eons of erosion, their complex root structures have been exposed. Some of these trees thought to be over 12,000 years old.
