The flag of Australia is based on a dark blue color with the Union Jack in the upper left and white stars representing the Southern Cross constellation filing up the remaining space. The large star under the Union Jack is known as the pointer star. In the night sky, the pointer helps you find south by drawing an imaginary line between it and the cross.
