The Iguazu River is a major river in South America, located primarily in the eastern region of the continent. It serves as a natural border between Brazil and Argentina for a significant portion of its course. The river is renowned for its spectacular waterfalls, known as the Iguazu Falls or Iguaçu Falls, which are one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world.

The Iguazu River originates in the Serra do Mar mountains in Brazil and flows through the Brazilian state of Paraná before entering Argentina. It continues its course through the province of Misiones in Argentina where Iguazu National Park is located. Inside the park, the river forms the boundary between Argentina and Brazil for about 20 kilometers (12 miles).

The most famous section of the Iguazu River is undoubtedly Iguazu Falls. These falls consist of a series of cascades and cataracts spread over nearly 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles). They are one of the seven wonders of the natural world.
