About Iguazu Falls
View photos of Iguazu Falls in Argentina.
Iguazu Falls is part of Iguazu River located in the Misiones Province of Argentina and Paraná State in Brazil. Paraguay is also very close. The park consists of the most spectacular waterfall system on Earth and is one of the world’s natural wonders. On the Brazil side of the park, you get the best panoramic views while in Argentina’s Iguazu National Park gets you up close to most of the individual falls. Visiting both sides of the falls is recommended and can be easily organized with a day tour. Organized tours include a one day visa to allow you to cross the border.
Argentina’s circuit gets you to most of the individual falls and also through scenic forest while Brazil has one main path above the Iguazu river providing extensive views. The boardwalk to Union Fall in Argentina is perhaps the most popular viewing platform as you get up and close to the awesome power of Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat).
Many unique plants and animals exist in the surrounding jungle. Rare and colorful butterflies and birds exist like the eagle and toucan. Mammals include the coatí which hangs around the walking trails looking for food. Rare animals include the anteater, caiman, jaguarundi, and tapir.
Most travelers who fly into the area will organize accommodation at Puerto Iguazu. Once that is organized, they will buy a day pass to the falls, but visit the next day to get more hours inside the park.
