About Titahi Bay

Our photos of Titahi Bay in Porirua.

Tītahi Bay is a suburb of Porirua City, part of the Wellington metropolitan area, located at the southwestern entrance to Porirua Harbour on New Zealand’s North Island.

It features nearly 1 km of gently shelving sandy beach, backed by colourful boatsheds and residential homes. The bay faces west toward Mana and Kāpiti Islands and is popular for swimming, surfing, fishing, and walking. Colourful boatsheds line the beach, and the area offers scenic coastal walks with striking views and a glimpse of a rare fossilised forest embedded in the cliffs.

The suburb has a strong surfing culture, with a well-established surf life saving club and consistent swells that attract surfers of all levels. Tītahi Bay also has deep Māori roots, with historic pā sites and traditional place names that reflect its cultural significance.
