Porirua, also known as North City, is situated north of Wellington and is gradually being integrated with Wellington as the suburbs of both cities merge. This urban center is built around Porirua Harbour, the second harbor in the Wellington region. The suburb of Papakowhai offers exceptional views of the harbor, as do sections of Titahi Bay, which also has a beach situated on the Tasman Sea. Porirua Harbour has an additional arm known as Pauatahanui Inlet, where the suburb of Whitby is located.
