About Divine Island

View our photos of beautiful Divine Island just off the coast of New Caledonia.

Mouac Island (aka Divine Island) is an uninhabited island off the north-west coast of New Caledonia’s main island, Grande Terre. The nearest town on the mainland is Poum. The island is encircled by beaches and coral gardens. Behind the main beach is a short track to the other side of the island where a smaller beach is located that is ideal for diving. Further south the island is a lot wider and has some hills where extensive vegetation in the form of maquis shrubland exists. This type of forest consists of low evergreen heath-like trees and plants. Some wild pigs roam this part of the island.

While the island is uninhabited, it has a wharf and BBQ area, with a walk to a scenic lookout over the island. Visitors come by boat and cruise ships stop here about twice a month.
