The City of Los Angeles (L.A.) is the most populous city in California and second-most populous in the USA. Located in the Los Angeles Basin between the coast and a number of mountain ranges, the city has both flat and hilly areas. L.A., enjoys a Mediterranean climate and gets just enough rain to avoid being classified as semi-arid. Further inland and over the Santa Gabriel Mountains lies the Mojave Desert and Death Valley.
