About Asia
Covering approximately 60% of the world’s population, Asia is the largest continent on the planet, with China and India alone accounting for more than one-third of the global populace.
Although the boundaries of Asia are not precisely defined, the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean, Suez Canal, Ural River, Ural Mountains, Caucasus Mountains, and the Caspian and Black Seas are among the most commonly recognized ones. Asia is part of Eurasia, which, along with Europe, is the world’s largest contiguous landmass.
Asia is divided into the following regions. East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
- East Asia includes: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan.
- Southeast Asia includes:Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
- South Asia includes: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Iran.
- Central Asia includes: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia.
- Middle East includes: Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territories, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, .
