The Basilica of Saint Mary Major is one of Rome’s four major basilicas. It was originally built atop a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Cybele in the fourth century under the orders of Pope Liberius. The cathedral has architectural styles from different periods of history from it construction in the mid fourth century to it’s completion in 1743.
The photo was taken in 1961 and you can see a number of classic cars dating from that decade.
