Sidney Myer Music Bowl is located in Kings Domain Gardens in Melbourne Australia. It is located near the Arts Centre and the suburb of Southbank. The philanthropist Sidney Myer was inspired by the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and in 1929 financed construction for a similar venue for Melbourne as a place where the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra could play outdoor concerts. In 1980, management of the bowl was given to the Victorian Arts Centre.
