Sydney is the oldest and biggest city in Australia. Located on the east coast in the state of New South Wales, the city is built around one of the world's great harbours. This intricate and scenic harbour is busy with boat traffic and views of the city from across the harbour are spectacular. Two of Australia's best landmarks are located here, the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Along the east coast there are many Pacific beaches that are divided into two areas, the North Shore and South Shore. The divide between the two is the main harbour which itself has beaches and coves. Notable North Shore beaches include: Manly, Curl Curl, Narrabeen, and Palm Beach. Popular beaches in the Southshore include: Bondi, Bronte, Coogee, and Marouba.
Just outside Sydney lie the scenic Blue Mountains, and area in the Great Dividing Range with canyons, cliffs, rainforest, and waterfalls. Animals here include marsupials such as kangaroos, wallabies, koala, and wombats. Monotremes include: Echidna , Platypus, A myriad of colourful birds include Cockatoos, Cookaburra, Magpie, Lyre Bird, Galah, Rosellas, and King Parrots.
