The Altare della Patria is a monument that commemorates Victor Emmanuel, the first king of the Italy as we know it today. Located next to the famous Piazza Venezia in Rome, it was completed in 1925 and to this day remains the largest monument in the world made of white marble. The Museum of Italian Unification lies at its base and an elevator to the top provides views of the surrounding historical area.
